BioAgora joins the Transformative Change Cluster for a conference on biodiversity in policy-making

23 May 2025 / Events

An upcoming event is set to bring together nine members of the Transformative Change Cluster of EU-funded projects in their synergistic pursuit of actionable knowledge in the biodiversity science-policy interface (SPI). The group consists of the projects CLEVER, BioValue, RAINFOREST, BAMBOO, Bedrock, BIONEXT, BIOTraCes, BioAgora and TRANSPATH. The occasion in question is the conference and public panels on “Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Policy-Making”, which will take place in the city of Brussels between 4 and 5 June 2025.

At its core, the event is meant to foster a conversation between policy-makers, scientists, business leaders and civil society. This discussion will revolve around the requirements for and practicalities of integrating biodiversity considerations into decision-making frameworks, particularly at the European level.

The agenda for the first day of the conference is set to explore the multitude of dimensions underpinning biosphere SPIs. In that sense, the methods for assessing biodiversity impacts, developing effective conservation pathways and advancing policy through transformative planning and governance approaches will be front and centre. BioAgora in particular will contribute with an interactive joint workshop titled: ”Mobilising networks at the Science-Policy-Society interface for amplifying transformative change for biodiversity”.

On the basis of the conclusions reached in the preceding day, 5 June will see the synthesis of emerging ideas and their incorporation into panel discussions. Through openness and inclusivity, a dialogue is meant to be established on how biodiversity can and should enter the policy mainstream of the EU. Proceedings on this second day will be live-streamed online, thus being open to all who register.
