BioAgora launches Call for Knowledge on Urban Greening Planning Tools

06 Jun 2025 / General News

BioAgora is inviting experts (scientists, practitioners, businesses, NGOs, and other societal actors) to share their knowledge on Urban Greening Planning Tools. This Call for knowledge is organised to support answering a knowledge need addressed to BioAgora by the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission.

The Call focuses on “tools” (i.e., software, web platforms, methods, and modelling approaches) designed to generate and process (spatial) information on biodiversity and ecosystem services.  These tools may have different purposes and can support various stages in the development of urban greening strategies and plans, such as identifying suitable areas for integrating green spaces and trees in cities, prioritizing interventions, assessing impacts, monitoring progress, etc.

An Expert Group has compiled a list of existing tools and is assessing them based on a defined set of criteria. The tools identified so far span various spatial scales and have different focuses, purposes, and intended users. The aim of this Call is to identify any relevant tools potentially missing from the list and to collect information about them.

Have you used or been aware of any tool that can assist planners in preparing Urban Nature Plans and in achieving the targets for urban areas set by the Nature Restoration Regulation? If yes, we invite you to contribute to this Call!
