On 3 June 2025, the European Commission, the European Research Executive Agency and the European Research Council jointly hosted the next workshop for the Transformative Change for Biodiversity Cluster in Brussels, Belgium. The event was attended by consortium members from 25 EU-funded research and innovation projects, among which BioAgora, BIONEXT, BioValue, CLEVER, TRANSPATH, CircHive, BAMBOO, RAINFOREST, BIOTRAILS, BIOTraCes, Planet4B, CO-OP4CBD and RESPIN. They were joined by IPBES experts, decision-makers and other stakeholders in the domain of biodiversity. The organisation of the workshop was facilitated through support from BioAgora, which was represented by coordinator Kaisa Korhonen-Kurki (SYKE), Karla Locher (UFZ) and Jeanne Nel (WUR).
The interface between science and policy was at the centre of the event’s conversation as participants discussed how synergistic collaborations and exchanges can bridge knowledge gaps and facilitate transformative biodiversity research. These deliberations were set to continue during the Cluster’s joint conference on integrating biodiversity into policymaking, which is taking place in Brussels as well on 4 and 5 June.
